Luma Claude Connector

The Luma connector plugs Luma into Claude, so you can ask Claude for a product shot, a set of ad sizes or a 5-second clip and it runs the work on your Luma account and brings the results back into the chat.

It uses your normal Luma sign-in and your team's existing credits. Anything Claude makes lands in your Luma team, ready to pick up in a board.

What you need

  • A Luma account (any account works, nothing to unlock)
  • Credits on the Luma team you connect
  • Claude on the web, desktop or mobile

ChatGPT works the same way through the official Luma plugin. This guide shows Claude.

One minute setup

Add Luma as a connector, sign in with your Luma account, and ask for a workflow.

  1. Add the Luma connector. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors, search and add the Luma Connector
  2. Click Connect and sign in with Luma. A Luma sign-in window opens. Use Google, Apple or your email, exactly as you do on lumalabs.ai.
  3. Pick the right team. If you belong to more than one Luma team, choose the one with credits. Generations bill to the team you pick here.
  4. Ask for a workflow. Start a new chat and say something like "Use Luma to make a product shot of these sneakers on a concrete rooftop."

Optional, but smoother: Claude asks permission before it uses a connector's tools. Set Luma's tools to always allowed if you don't want to approve each step.

On Claude Team or Enterprise, an admin adds the Luma connector once for the whole workspace. Everyone else just clicks Connect and signs in with their own Luma account.

What Claude can do with Luma

Three kinds of work, all on your Luma account. You don't pick between them; just describe what you want and Claude chooses.

No special commands. Say "use Luma" the first time so Claude reaches for the connector, then keep talking normally.

A single generation

  • What happens: One model call, one result. Images with Uni-1, video with Ray 3.2, plus the other image and video models your team can run.
  • Good for: A quick still, a 5 or 10 s clip, an image edit, animating an approved key visual.
  • Example prompt: Use Luma to make an image of worn leather boots on a wet cobblestone street for the website we’re building, 16:9.

A mini app

  • What happens: A full Luma workflow runs end to end. It plans, generates, checks its own output and returns finished assets.
  • Good for: Repeatable production jobs (see the list below).
  • Example prompt: Swap the background on this product shot to a sunlit marble kitchen counter. Give me 4 options.

Mini apps available in Claude today

  • Ad Variants: one finished ad, re-laid out for story 9:16, portrait 4:5, square 1:1, medium rectangle 6:5 and widescreen 16:9, in English, German, Italian, Japanese or Korean. It pauses to show you a preview before rendering the finals.
  • Background Swap: keeps the subject untouched and changes only the background, from a reference photo or a description. 1 to 8 images per run.
  • Camera Angles: the same subject from new angles: front, three-quarter, profile, rear, high, low, overhead or an angle you describe. Up to 8 images.
  • Light Transfer: relights a scene to match a reference photo or a mood like "golden hour". Up to 4K.
  • Face Swap: puts a person into an existing photo while keeping pose, wardrobe and lighting.

Other mini apps (Product Shots, Product 360, Virtual Try-On, Layers and more) also run in the Luma app.

Your Asset Library, from the chat

Claude can browse your team's Asset Library, use a logo or brand file from it as an input, and save finished results into a folder. It's the same library your team sees in Luma. It only deletes a library file if you explicitly ask.

Credits, on demand

Ask "what did that cost?" or "how many credits does my team have left?" and Claude checks your live usage.

Prompts to try

No special commands. Say "use Luma" the first time so Claude reaches for the connector, then keep talking normally.

Start simple

Make a 5-second video from that image, slow push-in.

Give me three variations with warmer light.

Run a mini app on your own photo (attach it to the message)

Show this chair from the front-left, from above and from behind.

Relight this scene like golden hour, low sun from the left.

Make a 360 product video of this object on a clean naturally-lit sage green studio background

Chain a whole e-commerce set from one product photo

  1. Swap the background to a clean studio set.
  2. Now show it from three new angles.
  3. Turn the best one into ad sizes for stories, square and widescreen, in English and German.
  4. Animate the widescreen version into a 5-second clip.
  5. Save everything to Campaigns/Black Friday in our Asset Library.

Stay on budget

Before you generate, tell me roughly how many credits this will take.

What did this session cost so far?

Good to know

From chat to board. Results don't appear on a Luma board on their own. Ask Claude to save them to your Asset Library, then open any board in Luma and bring them in from the library to keep iterating. The path is Claude → Asset Library → board.

Credits. The connector uses your Luma team's credits at the same rates as the app. There is no separate subscription. If the team you signed in with has no credits, generations won't run.

Projects stay together. Claude keeps the files of a job in one Luma workspace, so later requests can build on earlier outputs ("make that one wider", "use the second angle"). To keep separate clients or campaigns apart, ask Claude to use a named workspace for each.

Video takes longer. Images usually come back in seconds; video can take a few minutes. Claude waits and shows you the result when it's ready.

Troubleshooting

Claude answers but never uses Luma

  • Fix: Say "use Luma" in the request, and check the connector is switched on for this chat.

"No credits" or generations won't start

  • Fix: You're likely signed into a team with no credits (often a Personal team). Disconnect, reconnect, and pick the team that has credits.

Claude keeps asking permission

  • Fix: Set Luma's tools to always allowed in the connector's settings.

A video seems stuck

  • Fix: Video can take several minutes. Ask "is my video ready?" before re-running, so you don't pay twice.

I can't find my results in Luma

  • Fix: They live in your team's workspace, not on a board. Ask Claude to save them to the Asset Library, then open them from there.

I can't find the Luma connector to add

  • Fix: It's added by URL, not from the directory. Use + Add and paste https://agents.lumalabs.ai/mcp. On Team or Enterprise, ask your admin.

Common questions

  • Do I need an API key? No. You sign in with your normal Luma account.
  • Do I need a new plan? No. It uses the credits already on your Luma team.
  • Can teammates see what I make? Results go into your team's Luma workspace and anything you save to the Asset Library is shared with the team, as it is in the app.
  • Does it work in ChatGPT? Yes, through the official Luma plugin. Setup is the same idea: add Luma, sign in, ask.
