Luma was founded in 2021 and is headquartered in Redwood City, California. Luma enables individual creators, agencies and brands, developers, and enterprise creative teams to use its models on a creative canvas, tap into 3rd party models for specific tasks, or integrate the Luma API into other workflows. Luma is also building foundation models for physical AI and robotics through its Open Physical AI Lab. ## Luma Frontier Models [Luma Ray](https://lumalabs.ai/ray) is the current production video model and supports text-to-video, image-to-video, video modification up to 20 seconds at 1080p, multi-keyframe direction, and native HDR generation with EXR export. On the image and multimodal side, Luma [UNI-1.1](https://lumalabs.ai/news/uni-1-1-api) is built on what Luma calls "Unified Intelligence". In June 2026, Luma formally moved into robotics and physical AI.
